The Race is on...

While the tv and radio ads have been coming out even before christmastime and presidential and vice-presidentiable debates have been shown, campaign period officially starts today until the day before the Election on May 10. Candidates will be bound by rules and limits set by the Comelec.

Even as I understand that its all part of their campaign strategy, I dread the traffic that will be caused by motorcades and the campaign sorties, the mess of the flyers that they will be given out in the streets, the posters that they will be putting up that will just destroy the beauty of what was just restored and cleaned up from the last election.

May 10 also marks the first automated general elections in our country. While it guarantees faster results, it remains to be seen if it will really work. What if there are problems with the transmission of the ballots? Are we really ready for this? Are the people well equip to handle its technicalities?

We officially have 90 days or 3 months to decide who deserves our votes. I hope that we really take time to listen to their plans and platforms, look into each candidates character, pray about it and vote wisely. We only have this one chance every six years and our decision will definitely make an impact and affect our lives and those around us one way or another. Let us learn from the past and not make the same mistakes.
